Fashion

Our designs are a celebration of Sumbanese culture and a commitment to promoting sustainable and ethical fashion.

We combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to create unique and modern pieces that honour the rich heritage of Sumba.

By incorporating ikat into modern fashion, we aim to bring this traditional craft into the global spotlight and demonstrate its versatility and timeless appeal. Our designs are all created in Sumba, inspired by the vibrant colours and patterns the ikats woven by our Karaja community. We aim to preserve the integrity of the ikat-making process and respect the time, effort and skill involved in its creation.

Accessories

In addition to garments, we also offer a small selection of bags. These are made from ikat, woven pandan leaves or a combination of both.

Weaving ikat on the handloom is physically demanding, and after completing a tapestry our weavers often need a rest. Working on bags, such as those made from pandan, is a way of giving their bodies the rest they need and earning a small income at the same time.
